Call for Nominations to the Expert Council Opens

Following the adoption of the Charter and the Founding Resolution, the Council has opened its call for nominations to the Expert Council. Nominations are invited from individuals of exceptional professional standing across the fields relevant to the Council's mandate.

Candidates are expected to hold a terminal degree in a relevant field together with a demonstrated record of scholarly or professional excellence, and to bring a minimum of fifteen years of substantive experience in international security, governance, law, humanitarian affairs, or human rights. Independence is assessed directly: candidates must have no current governmental, political, or partisan affiliation, and a verifiable publication or professional record sufficient to support a comprehensive declaration of interests.

Applications are not reviewed on a first-come basis. They are collected on a rolling basis and reviewed in full each quarter by an independent Nominating Committee composed of three experts external to both ARGA and the Council. The Committee conducts its own global search in parallel with the open call, and its recommendations are forwarded to the ARGA Executive Board, which alone holds the power of appointment.

This structure is intentional: no single body proposes and decides. The search, the shortlisting, and the appointment are separated across independent hands, consistent with the Council's founding principle that its membership must be, and be seen to be, free of any single source of influence.
